1. What was it like using your hand as subject matter for a drawing?
I thought using my hand was a little difficult because I have many little crevices and lines that makeup my hands,. The detail is hard to copy. I work a physical job that ruins many points of my hands. They are often dry and imperfect.
2. What media did you select - pencil or charcoal? Why?
I choose a pencil because it was readily available and I think something lighter as a pencil could benefit the first sketch. Charcoal might throw off the first sketch or make it more bolder and intimidating to start with.
3. How did it feel to create a drawing with your non-dominant hand?
I felt very uncomfortable and id rather not draw with my non-dominant hand.
4. Compare and contrast your final drawings. Do you think they are successful studies?
I think they are successful studies because I could tell a huge difference in my drawing technique when I switched my hands. It was as if no matter what I tried, nothing could help my non-dominant hand to draw like my dominant right hand.
5. Would you consider using your non-dominant hand to create artwork in the future?
I would not consider using my non-dominant hand in the future because it makes a detailed picture look messy and unprofessional. I would rather stick with my right hand to create art.
